Kiara has 'hurt' her ankle and apparently (according to the wailing and the hopping and the carting herself around on a very loud wheelie-chair) it is the worst injury anyone has ever sustained, but somehow does not warrant going to the hospital, because hospitals are unpleasant. The logic in this child is astounding.
I especially like how soon it has occured after my own ankle injury (from Tuesday), as it allows for pretty fresh comparison of responses. Hint: Mine was the better one.

Call call Carpet Call.
(The experts in the trade)

I would tell you a story about something that happened at work today, but instead I'm going to tell you the story about when I told Alysha and Mum that story. Actually I really can't be arsed typing it out. The point is that I was trying to tell a story involving a cockroach, but Alysha doesn't like the word 'cockroach' so she makes us say 'lamp'. So I was saying 'lamp', really overtly like AND BY LAMP I MEAN THAT THING THAT ISN'T A LAMP, RIGHT GUYS, *nudges Alysha* *fingerspells the real word to Mum*, and it wasn't until a few moments after the story ended that Alysha realised I wasn't actually talking about lamps. She needs to learn her own code.

^ I wrote all that on Friday. It is now Monday.

Not much is happening in my life. Am trying to decide on my one elective unit to take next semester. Help me!

Units ahoy )

Turning my back on my original path of a Political Science and International Relations major is making me feel all floundery about what the hell is going to happen in my future. I know that I'll have loads of opportunities with a Law degree, but I feel like I'm shutting off a lot of the doors that I've been interested in in the past by neglecting politics. And I still fancy myself a person who is interested in and could be successful in that sort of career but studying it this year was really interesting but I didn't feel like FUCK YEAH, POLITICS, and I didn't excel at it, and it just pissed me off more than anything else and I don't want a major that's going to piss me off, guys. idk. idk. I just feel like my options in life have just shrunk considerably WHICH IS PROBABLY A GOOD THING, and I know isn't very rational because if I have an epiphany later on and decide that that's what I want to do after all, I can always do moar study anyway so I should be fine with it but it has thrown me into the LOLIDK pool of 'What to respond with when someone asks what you want to do in the future'. DDDDDDDDD: Aagghhh I wish I had a proper passion.

The other day at Woolies I saw a vegetable labelled 'WITLOF' and it took me way too long staring at it before I could convince myself that it didn't actually say 'WTFLOL'. But come on, who the hell has heard of a witlof.

Seeing New Moon tomorrow night with Twats. Can't fuckin' wait.

OK, so.

I spent the last two afternoons reading New Moon. I figured I should probably actually read the books at some point. I read almost half of Twilight before seeing the film last year, and I'm seeing New Moon on Tuesday with Twats (it's so hard to explain to people that I don't like the franchise but still intend to pay money to it), so it was time for this one.

Thoughts. Including copypastas plus commentary of notable parts )

I was at the cinema last night watching Mao's Last Dancer (niiiiiice; HAY CAPTAIN PIKE) and the double-showing of Twilight and New Moon was just beginning as we were leaving so there were TWIHARDS GALORE and I vomited in my mouth.

Nothing else has really been goin' down in my life recently. I've become increasingly obsessed with macarons, and have taken down the addresses of the four patisseries in Perth that apparently do them the best. Now I just need someone to transport me to those places, or accompany me on public transport to them. Annoyingly, one of them is like a 10 minute walk from Uni. So I could have gone many times before now, and I'm not going to uni any more. ffffff.

Oh also I intend to do much outdoor-cinema attending this summer. There was a whole guide on them in the paper on the weekend and I'm looking forward to lots of it. Yay having friends to do these things with.

Also some apparently somewhat notable figure name o' Craig Landes tweeted this the other day: "Don't know a thing about @Nicolawesome but she wears that top hat well!" Uhhh, thanks, Craig Landes. Don't know a thing about you, but you creep me out well.

Thaaaaat's all. Ciao.

Exchaaaange [Nov. 17th, 2009|12:41 pm]
Right, it's official. I can no longer live without one of these aprons: http://www.etsy.com/shop/Boojiboo
I'd need to conceive of and achieve a pretty badass goal to justify spending $40 on one of the incredibly cute fancier styles, but there are 'classic' ones for $5 less which are also lovely. Or the half-size (just the skirt) ones are even cheaper. I just want a cute apron okay.

So today I GOT UP IN THE MORNINGTIME to come to Uni to meet with the very friendly convener of Italian to talk about my exchange application. It's all good and things are fine and dandy. I got here about an hour and a half early so I used the time to look at units I can do in Milan. I have to choose two, and it can be on aaaanything, so I've been having fun looking at units about film and theatre. Heh heh. This one looks the most badass of all: http://www.unicatt.it/upl/proguc/MI/2009/ENG/LETT/LINGUAGGI_FORME_ESPRESSIVE_SPETTACOLO_CAVADINI.DOC WE GET TO GO ON FIELD TRIPS TO THEATRES GUYS. GUYS. ALSO THE PROFESSOR'S NAME IS THE FEMININE VERSION OF MY NAME IN ITALIAN.

Also the guy who teaches a History of Italian Cinema course is named 'Roberto Della Torre', which made me giggle because if you squish his last name differently it says 'Dell'Attore' which means 'of the actor', which is funny because he teaches about film... Yeaahhhh I lol'd.

Oh also I just realised yesterday that I might have the opportunity to go to one of the not-Milan campuses which have the advantage (or disadvantage) of not being Milan. There's one in Brescia which offers much the same courses as I'm interested in, and from what I can tell Brescia is adorable. I came to this conclusion based on some pictures of pretty roofs, and the fact that they have a cathedral called 'Old Cathedral' and another cathedral called 'New Cathedral'. Champions. But I donut think they have the Italian Language courses that i sort of need to do, because they're not as HEYYYYYY INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS SUP HOW YOU DOIN as the Milan campus is. So maybe no. And no UWA people have gone there before so I'd be a PIONEER. There are pros and cons all over the place, so we'll just have to see.

(I'm-a go to Italy, guyz C:)

CURRENTLY I am looking at units to do in 1st Semester next year (at UWA) (although I have much much time to choose), because going on exchange toward an Italian major means I only have three non-Italian units to do for the rest of my Arts degree :o. THREE. And I've looked at the Handbooks for 2010 and that BADASS Fantasy/History unit isn't actually being offered next year which means A) It's not going to be on whilst I'm away, which is nice, and B) WHAT. WHEN IS IT GOING YO BE OFFERED GUYS WHEN. I WANT IT AAAUGHHH. If it's 2nd Semester 2011 I'll only be doing 2 units in 1st Semester that year :o.

OK I HAVE TO GO BECAUSE I'M GOING TO EAT FOOD IN THE CITY WITH DAD. YAAAY.

The Illustrated Edition [Nov. 15th, 2009|12:31 am]
Hello the internets!
Since I've last checked in, I've had my last exam (on Monday) and lazed around in the excesses of my delicious delicious freedom and purposelessness.

Purposelessness isn't really the word (nor, probably, a word at all), as I did complete two 'projects' in preparation for the Panto After-After-Party last night. Namely, a cake and a cape. It was both alliterative and fun. The cake was primarily for Kira, as she turned 18 but is too cool to acknowledge it, so I insisted on bringing a cake to the party and making people sing. Heck yeah. Also it was Ivo's birthday the day before Kira's so I gave him a footnote and an anatomically incorrect bat (he likes Batman). I think he was actually mildly offended by it, which is a shame. Here is a photograph of the cake:
It's funny because Kira is somewhat renowned for playing the Ace of Spades in first semester )

The cape was because the theme of the party was Capes (wow). I donut have a proper photo of my cape, but it was half-assedly handstitched and comprised of various scraps of fabric which happened to exist in my house, and had my superhero name 'Captain Badly Executed Attire' written on it in wobbly white fabric paint. It actually took me a while. On Wednesday I chose and cut fabric, pinned it together and made the collar and it took the duration of Star Trek (I watched it with director's commentary :D) and a little longer (watched the beginning again with audio for the visually impaired, which basically narrates the action. It's beautiful.), then Thursday I re-pinned and sewed it all throughout two episodes of Friends, Ellen, Beauty and the Geek, Family Guy and American Dad. At the last minute before I left for the party, the team effort of Mum, Dad, Kiara and me added a mask (a pink-lined sleeping eye-mask with holes jaggedly cut in it) and a hat (my trusty top hat, with a pink ribbon and blue feathers decorating) to the ensemble, and it actually came together pretty well. I looked suitable ridiculous. Jack's costume was the best, in my opinion- he'd just pinned to his shirt a map of some Cape as in the geographical feature thing. I can't remember which cape it was, which sort of ruins the effect of the previous sentence, but it was lolarious. Reminded me of the time I dressed up as Ralph Wiggum as Idaho.

The party was cool. About 25 people were there, and Jo made lots of delicious Squashed Frog shots, of which I had two. I have bad Shots etiquette, I've realised. I tend to lick the inside of the glass after I've downed it... It's delicious, gosh! Also I was a strong contender for Biggest Nuisance, by knocking over two other peoples
bottles within the first two hours. But then someone kicked over a whole 4-pack of beer, smashing glass and spilling the entire contents of two bottles, so I think they won. We watched Glee, like all the cool kids do at parties. I was headachey throughout, though, especially in the hour before I left, the last 15 minutes of which I spent lying face-first sprawled on a giant beanbag in the centre of the circle of talking. I got home feeling a little more than a little that i was going to throw up, so took a precautional icecream container to have next to my bed when I collapsed onto it. But i slept pretty easily and woke up feeling fine (though sneezy) this morning. Yay me.

A couple o' party photos. )

Then todaaaay I got up at 11:20ish because Kiara was butchering Glee songs in the shower and I couldn't do anything about it from my bed. Did a pretty thorough perusal of the paper over breakfast, and noticed an ad for Target's two-day sale which featured a dress I tried on and liked a couple weeks ago, for sale! It was $70 then, and $25 now, and happily the family was going to the shops today anyway because Kiara needed supplies for some dumb school project, so I tagged along and bought me the dress, and two others that were also $25, because I need casual-ish short-ish dresses, and a black dress. So yay. Also we went to Gelatinos and I had an iced mocha frappe thing, and a really impressive tiny almond biscotti.

I feel v ridiculous taking photos like this )

I'm not doing very well on my NaNoWriMo novel. It is, in fact, around 3000 (rather than 25000) words long atm. I'll post it here if any of y'all want to have a squiz. It's pretty entertaining, as far as I'm concerned. Also mostly nonsense. I intend to dedicate all of tomorrow to it. Then Monday to my exchange application, because I'm going into Uni on Tuesday to talk to the Italian exchange coordinater chap because he finally replied to my email. Amazing.

Also http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0472033/ and http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1430606/
Just sayin'.

Dot point entry!

-I am horrendous at studying

-New Internet Month starts in a couple hours or maybe even just one depending on things.

-Political Science exam wasn't completely awful, but I didn't ace it either, but that's all my fault.

-Last exam is Italian on Monday and then I am free. Omg

-Yesterday I wore a dress and saw a friend's Opera recital and went for some icecream and did not study

Ok just to give you an idea of what a fucking idiot I am:

There's this one lecture that my Pols unit co-ordinator (Roderic Pitty) told us we have to be brushed up on for the exam. It was the lecture taken by Kim Beazley (important ex-politician, now ambassador to the US!) about Obama.

These are the notes I took for that lecture:
- Your FACE is divergent
- Pitty <3 Beazley
- The Far East is not BFF with left-wing Obama
-China <3 Hardline conservatives
-Japan <3 them too (omg copied)
- Al-Qaida is a bit more scared, less arrogant, with friendBama around
- Ruddy is the Obama-est of all the FP's
- Ruddy can't be BFF with Obama like Howard/Bush OTP. Because Obama doesn't want work relationships. GOSH, OBAMA, COULD YOU BE MORE AMAZING. COULD YOU.
- OH THE RHETORIC.

That's all. Brb listening to the lecture again/beating myself up.

heyyyy. I've not done a proper entry since a couple Fridays ago :o
Well last week was Exam Study Week. Actually that should be translated into Nicolan* as "Well Sunday was Study For Criminal Law Day". Indeed zero study happened during the actual week, because I am a terrible person, basically. But Saturday night when I got home from work at 10:45pm, I got my Crim on til 2AM, then finished it off at a leisurely pace throughout Sunday (but mainly Sunday night. Terrible person. There was a Friends marathon on :()
*This formulation of the name of 'the language of Nicola' is based on the precendent set by Angola, because it is the most similar to my name ending (also supported by the next-most similar, Guatemala and Venezuela).

Mo' )

Also my NaNoWriMo novel is currently what I'd written last year plus about 400 words, plus a whole bunch of ideas to throw in, to make up for current lack of distinct plot. I'll have plenty of time to dedicate to it after exams! And I brought my notebook with me today to write on the train. One of my ideas is that the town it's set in is super-democratic (on the surface), and their solution to the daylight savings issue is to have two different timezones within the same place. Daylight Savings People have different working hours, different shopping hours and different TV and radio stations. Haven't completely thought through the implications of this, but I like it so far.

OK! I LEAVE YOU IN SEARCH OF FOOD.

Today I bought Star Trek (2009 movie) on DVD, and lots of nice (enough) tops from Target.

Here is one of my favourite presents my parents got me from Italy:

It's a pretty dodgy photo, but I've had requests (a request) for photos of the full haul, so they'll come eventually.

I have not done any enough study. But I'm still happy.

Here I got you all a present: http://community.livejournal.com/ohnotheydidnt/39849010.html

I've just baked amaretti biscotti but i'm all face-sick and can't smell or taste anything so fffffuuuuuuuu i really want to experience the delicious. Or at least test to see whether or not they are indeed delicious. They don't have any flour in them! At one point I somehow managed to get a whiff of the batter, and it was...promising. It was a bit of an almondgasm, actually.

So yes, I'm feeling rather sick sick sick and it sucks sucks sucks but I hope I get better :(

I jobofaxed it (was late due to public transport) to Criminal Law today. Was 10 minutes late because FIRST, my first bus was late so I missed the usual train, and SECOND, the train I did get DECIDED IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO GO TO THE OLD STATION INSTEAD OF THE ONE IT USUALLY GOES TO, WITHOUT TELLING US IT WAS GOING TO DO THAT. So I had to go walksies to get the bus to uni, and missed all the buses that would have gotten me there on time. Fffuuuu. Lucky it was an 'exam practice' lecture, so I didn't actually miss any information, but grumblegrumble nonetheless. This means that the two AND ONLY TWO lectures I've rocked up late to since I've been at uni were the very first law lecture, and the very last law lecture. Fancy that.

We had our old friend Roderick Pitty (the foo') back to tell us about the exam for Political Science in the lecture today. Played our Drinking Game (drink water when he drinks water- he's got to be the most hydrated man in the world), and he decided to inspire our confidence for the exams by getting an Obama talking action figure to talk to us. Then pointed out the grammatical error at the back of the box. The man is just...wow. I have to do an awful lot of studying for this exam, but we've been given the essay questions already so that's LOVELY.

Thenn I had my Italian oral exam and it went okay! I'm pretty sure ours was the only one with no grammatical slip-ups (which are very easy to achieve in italian), and I only stumbled over my words twice. To be fair, one of the words was 'la proprietaria'. Go on, say it. Also I didn't get asked any questions, which is awesome, because I always answer our teacher's questions super slowly because I never actually have an answer in English, let alone in Italian. So I look really retarded and it misrepresents my grasp on the language :(

This turned into a really detailed discussion/analysis of my academic future, which will likely serve no purpose to any of you )
Okay, wow. That took like an hour and a half and my baking mess is begging to be dealt with. Still can't smell.

Hellooo

I'm very impressed with myself because I decided to a) attend, and b) properly prepare for, my (very last!) Criminal Law tute today, and in 1.5 hours I managed to prepare 4 pages of typed notes for it. Which I then condensed to 2, but hey, it used to be four. I could have been better and actually written out a full answer to the problem question, rather than just notes, and had my tutor mark it, but hey nobody actually does that except sometimes mature age students.

Now there's half an hour to go before I have to be at the tute, and it's taking every bit of my self control not to go and buy a chocolate bar from somewhere fffuuuu I really want chocolate. And am hungry. But I want, like, super good quality chocolate. So that's probably not going to happen for a while. Ngah.

Fffffuuuuu it's so hot. It's awesome. Summer, my deer sweet friend. Even though I hate wearing things that aren't jeans, and I rarely ever go to the beach, I still love you and yearn for you all year.

One effect of hot weather is that people tend to want ice cream more. This makes my shifts at work RIDICULOUS. But also means the time goes quicker! We were non-stop tonight, 6-10:00. It was great. And awful. Also I got told off for saying 'Are you alright, there?' to a couple of idle customers, because apparently it's not up-market enough, and we're a classier place than that phrase. Um. So I had to train myself to just use 'Are you being served' 'Can I help you' and the more general 'IS ANYBODY WAITING' and 'CAN I HELP ANYONE'. I slipped up a couple times but then caught myself halfway through, so a couple people were greeted with 'ARE YOU ... ahhh canihelp'. Also I fell over. Not whilst serving anyone, but after having a chat with my boss. I just turned to go to the sink, and slipped and stacked it right in front of him. Hurt my finger.

So last night, I went to a club(/bar/placewithmusicandalcoholandsleazydudes). It was Fiona (not-that-close-but-lovely friend from high school)'s 18th, so we went for Azn food, then were carpooled by her parents and brother (n'aww) to the city to go to Carnegie's. Story )

Thursday night was awesome. I finished my Linguistics assignment (LAST PRE-EXAMS ASSESSMENT OF THE YEAR WHOOOOOT), then headed to the Panto meeting which went for like 2 hours. We decided on the theme for the next one, which will be a King Arthur Rock Musical sort of thing with a live band r on stage, which is new and exciting. It's been Brad's pet idea for the past few years and it finally got accepted and he was really really happy and it was sort of cute. Choosing the directors was an achingly long process because of the way the candidates had paired off for election. We discovered that most of us ideally wanted a particular person from one pair, and one from another, to pair up together, and we eventually achieved that. It was an exciting display of the power of democracy, if a long-winded process which unfortunately left all the candidates locked outside in the cold wondering what the fuck was going on, for a very long time.
After the meeting we went to Sam's house for GLEEEE and it was GLEEEFUL. Loads of people went, about half a dozen of whom had never seen GLEEEEE before. Then we watched the DVD of the third night performance of our show. The dance looked good! I'd not seen it before, as I was in the front of it, but yeah it was rad. Sam The Champion drove all the way to Clarkson from East Vic Park to drop Kira home, and Tina and I along the way. CHAMPION.

Tomorrow I do chores. Ze End.

Helloooo!
Today is being very nice so far.
I woke up too late to get to my Linguistics lecture, but early enough to wash my hair (IT LOOKS SO GOOD RIGHT NOW SERIOUSLY COME LOOK AT MY HAIR), have a somewhat leisurely breakfast, and put on makeup before transperthing it to my Pols tute. Studied for my Italian test on the first bus and on the train. Easy stuff. :)

Got to my pols tute on time, and about five minutes in one guy was like 'It's cold in here but it's so nice outside can we go outside?', and our tutor is cool, so we had our tute on the James Oval. :) I've always wanted to have a class outside at uni, and one week from the end of my first year, I did! Yaaay. the tute itself wasn't that exciting, and I have to find out what NATO is, but it was still good. Apparently our exam will have multiple choice, again, so that's awesome.

Then I had my Italian test, and it was really long. Normally I finish them in about 20-30 minutes but this took the whole 45. Notwithstanding length, though, I'm quite sure I aced the shit out of it. Except for one use of past conditional which I wasn't familiar with. I know how to say 'should finish', and 'would have finished', but i didn't know how to say 'should have finished'. But that's about it :) It's my last Italian test of the year, and possibly my best since the first. We'll see. (La vedremo).

Now I'm in the Reid library, on one of the uni computers. I'm hungry and want to go eat, but don't want to give up my computer spot. Grumph.

So family is nice! Zia Rita invited Aly and I to dinner for last night, and I thought it'd just be her and Uncle Charlie there, maybe Melissa (their daughter, 20-something), but Zia Fran came too, with Rick (cousin, married last year), and Mel brought her boyfriend (ex-UWA law student, current commercial lawyer), and Uncle Rob came later. So it was a nice family dinner which even involved looking at old photos, and appetisers consisting of a bowl of cheese. Really. Just cubes of delicious cheese in a bowl. Deli meats came later, but for a while it was cheese. Awesome. We even came away from it with a plate of cutlets! I have two of them in my bag for lunch :)

I now have five hours to start and finish my Linguistics assignment, before the Panto BGM. I baked cookies for it! And am somewhat hopeful to achive the position of Biscuit Wench for the next production. This biscuit wench will BAKE a different batch of cookies every (probably not every) week, none of this Arnotts Assorted crap from me! I take my cookies seriously! After the meeting is GLEEEEE NIIIIGHT at Sam's place, and he baked peach pie for it, so...yeah, I really like today.

OK I am indeed going to go somewhere I can eat, and start my assignment there. I don't technically need a computer for the first few parts.

Questions! )

Hello :)

I've been a bit stressed out/raging/disappointed with myself the past couple days because of how I approached (or failed to approach...) my Pols essay which was due yesterday. The well of procrastination is only growing deeper, it's quite a problem. I handed it in today, so I'll probably get a 2.5% mark reduction, but it's not that much, and I deserve it, so it's all good. I typed myself a 1000-word pep-talk of sorts on Sunday, and i've sort of tried to look at things a different way, and it helped with my attitude and whatnot, so we'll see, we'll see. I'm also strictly budgeting non-academic internet time.

In related news (as it was my main means of procrastination over the weekend), The Big Bang Theory is fantastic. I wish I had someone like Sheldon around to bother me whilst I'm walking to and from the bus stop, to keep me company. I love his laugh. My favourite episode so far is coincidentally the one that first got my attention- the one where they introduce Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock. (I came across the game on a t-shirt on the net a couple months ago, and was told it was from TBBT). But I don't like it so much because of that, rather because of the lengthy conversation comparing the quality of Star Trek I and V :) There are many Trek references, and I'm very proud to understand them.

This morning I overslept my Leisurely Morning Routine And Get To Uni With Plenty Of Time time, and got up at If I Get Ready Really Quick, Don't Put On Makeup And Bring Breakfast With Me I Might Make It In Time If The Bus I Think Is Coming Is Actually Coming. I do not like that time. It is a stressful time and makes for a rushed, hungry and fug day. I had to get to uni by 11:40 at the latest so that I could hand in my essay before 12 (or i'd lose 5%, not 2.5%) and then go to Italian at 12. It went fine. The bus was indeed there (though a tad late...thankfully), and I got to uni at 11:20. My applebreakfast was not enough, so I got a cookie from a vending machine and it was delicious but a bad choice because then I felt ill.

Italian was good. I got my latest test back, with a 95%. Heh I just realised I got 95% on both of the assessments I did during Panto production week! The other was the Linguistics assignment I did during the dress rehearsal. Annoyingly, all my errors were silly mistakes that I knew how to do but just overlooked. Dumb. We did revision exercises for the test on Thursday, and it's all relatively straightforward stuff.

After Italian I went to Oak Lawn as I tend to do at 1:00 on Tuesdays to find Sara and Jenny already sitting there. I contemplated getting a cupcake from the St Catherines College girls who were selling them to save the children or something. Cupcakes are always a good choice but I was still full of cookie, so I bought one and shared it with the others, and Ben when he came, too. It was nommy. It had a reasonably large pink ball-hat of pink icing on top which tasted like strawberry icecream.

Went to the Lawbrary computers for a bit, then headed to the bus stop to get the bus to Innaloo to see a film with Alysha because our Gold Class Upgrade vouchers expire tomorrow. Magnum icecreams have had this promotion where you buy one and take the wrapper to the cinema to upgrade an adult ticket to a Gold Class ticket. Adult tickets were like $17 any way, and Gold Class is $25, so we saved $8 each although we spent quite a bit on an underwhelming pizza and nommy cocktails to be brought to us half an hour into the film. We've never had Gold Class before, and it was totally awesome. The seats are so CUSHY and they RECLINE and there are ENDLESS COMFY POSITIONS YOU CAN SIT/LIE IN AS YOU WATCH THE FILM. It is A+, though extortionate. The film we saw was Julie & Julia, and if you like food at all, you'll love it. It was really really good. Really fun and funny and Meryl Streep. And Jane Lynch had a minor role! She was hilarious, and very different from her role on Glee fo' sho'. But oh the food. Oh the food.

Also my second new watch arrived in the mail today and it's pretttyyyyy and I like it very much. But it seems quite delicate so I hope I don't SMASH IT TO PIECES by accident :(
Looky!:

Tomorrow for Criminal Law the best lecturer ever is coming back to talk to us about this specific inquiry he's been involved with in his real job that he left us for last semester. He was meant to do it last week but he broke his wrist. Dumb. Then in the evening Aly and I are having dinner at Zia Rita's, and Zia Fran is apparently also coming so that's nice. Then Thursday we have the Panto BGM (meeting) which will be cool because I'll get to see all the panto people again :P, and then about 20 of us (16 according to the facebook even page) are going to Sam's place to watch the new episode of Glee and other things :D I cannot wait. We're meant to bring baked goods so I have to figure out something to contribute, and find time to make it :/. Then on Friday I'm going to an 18th party which will ACTUALLY INVOLVE ME GOING TO A BAR/CLUB/THING. HOW EXCITING. It's for a girl from high school I'm not really that close with, but she's pretty awesome and other people I know will be there, so it'll be fun. Mm, revelry.

K bye!

Partaaay [Sep. 26th, 2009|11:28 pm]
Hellooo

I'm a bit hoarse but you can't tell because I'm typing, not speaking.

So I Genitori E La Terza Figlia are in Rome, because they're douchebags. They are apparently having buckets of fun and that is good for them.

In their absence, Aly and I last night held what is being called in retrospect an "A++ Fiesta". A joint effort involving about equal parts her 20-21 year old friends and my 17-18 year old friends, a crapload of chilli con carne, margaritas, one sombrero, endless dessert options, Singstar, and Disney charades. I think that about sums it up and it doesn't therefore require any more detailed description. But I'll go ahead and discuss highlights anyway. (Lucky you). )

Tomorrrow Aly and I go to the Royal Show! Provided Aly is no longer dead at 9:30AM, it should be a grand day. Filled with free food, queues, and smelly animals. And if we decide to bail on the fireworks, I miiiight make it to the Panto rehearsal I didn't realise was going to be on by the time we'd planned to go to the show tomorrow. But maybe not. We'll see.

Life! It's nice! ish!

Also, here's my favourite photo in a long time:

About to leave for airport to see Parents And Their Third-Born off to Italy.
This is how my cycle of emotions is going rn. Each cycle takes about five minutes.

RAAAAGE-ENVYYY-Depspair-Melancholy-Content With Accepting That Things Turn Out The Way They're Meant To-Melancholy-My Face Looks Stupid Why Am I So Fug-Excited for Parents-Excited for Funtimes with Aly-Melancholy-RAAAAGE.

Currently at the second Melancholy.

Edit: Has now progressed to shorter cycle of Self Pity (MY LIFE SUCKS WHY DON'T I GET TO GO ANYWHERE)-Self Loathing (DAMMIT NICOLA YOUR LIFE IS ACTUALLY AWESOME YOU'RE A DOUCHEBAG FOR BEING SAD).

Alysha is laughing at my pain.

I am laughing at Alysha's chin.

Another Monday morn, another assignment submitted, another fuzzy head from lack of sleep.

Though to my credit, I was in bed watching Arrested Development on my laptop by 5AM this morning. Pat on the back to me.
And slap over the head to me for not continuously saving my work before Word decided to shit itself.
And gold star to my computer for having a very, very GQ auto-save and recovery function. I actually hugged him. Oh RickyDene (that's my computer's name okay).

This assignment was a 'Position Paper' outlining in 500 words how Britain feels about per capita convergence as a framework for solving Climate Change, and when the deadline for achieving it should be. On Thursday, and next Thursday too, we'll be discussing and debating on behalf of our countries in our tutes to try and come to a consensus. Fun! What I discovered is that Britain is one hell of a GQMF when it comes to action on climate change. But it doesn't really seem to give a shit about per capita convergence, like, at all. So it's a weird sort of position and I hope I haven't gotten it completely wrong. Wee.

Now I should be gettin' shit done for my Linguistics tute today, but instead I'm blogging, okay.

Tomorrow night Aly and I are seeing off our parents and their third-born to fucking Italy. I'm so torn between sort-of-excited anticipation for parent-free living, and ENVIOUS RAGE. It's a difficult position. I'm hoping that I won't lose it and end up sobbing at the departure gates screaming DON'T LEAVE ME YOU BASTARDS. YOU BAASTAAAARDS WHY WOULD YOU LEAVE MEEEE. That may be awkward. But Aly is very on top of things where it comes to our ~social life~ over the next four weeks or however long they're going (I should probably know this). Is it sad that it's 'our social life'? Rather than individual lives? idc.

We're having a partaaay on Fridaaaay, which will probably cost me last week's pay to buy food for (Mexican!), but is going to be totally awesome. Then we're going to the Royal Show on Sunday which will probably cost me this week's pay! BUT THAT'S GOING TO BE TOTALLY AWESOME TOO. OH MAN, THE THINGS WE'RE GOING TO DO. And ROC Candy has a sugar free showbag so yes please. Then apparently we're holding a Twat movie night at our place next Friday, and we've been invited to Zia Rita's for dinner on some Friday which will probably be the one after that oh wait that might be a Panto night let me check oh nope the Panto is next week (wait what holy fuck) so we have to do the Twat night on a different night.

So Panto! That's fun! I still need to get my costume together, but it's all good. And learn the rest of the Thriller dance, too. I'm so loving the camaraderie this semester. It's a good bunch of peeps.

Okay. I don't think I can justify not working for much longer. I must at least make some vague notes on the page. I gotsta lecture to git to.

OH ALSO I caught a bit of the Emmys broadcast this morning, and of what I saw, this is how I felt: Cut because Alysha could possibly construe this as a spoiler and get really pissy at me )
